Def Leppard Singer Joe Elliott discusses his favorite iPod selections and other topics with blog writer Jade Wright for the Liverpool Echo Online, May 9.
"Black Parade by My Chemical Romance is a great record," he chuckles. "I love the lyrics, the way they play with words. "Muse always surprise me. I don't know the names of any of the songs, but I'm always amazed that just the three of them can make all that noise, all those different sounds."

BBC News has more on Songs From The Sparkle Lounge's impending chart debut where it is predicted to chart at No. 4 this weekend. Def Leppard is interviewed for the story which took place after their album launch party gig in London.
"We want to promote our current album because we think it's great, and we also think our live show is great. Some of the stuff we've put out over the years wasn't that good. "But now, our UK tour is nearly sold out. It just goes to show, if you try hard enough and work at it, you get this reward."

Chicago writer Anthony Kuzminski continues his series of Def Leppard reviews for the antiMusic Network with his latest, 2005's Rock Of Ages, The Definitive Collection.
"I'm going to be honest without pulling any punches. Def Leppard's albums over the last decade have been so poorly marketed I'm amazed they are still around. Here is a band that created two of the best radio records of the last decade (1999's Euphoria and 2002's X) and yet a Bon Jovi "It's My Life" style comeback has eluded them. The irony is that both of Leppard's albums are superior to the Bon Jovi albums, Crush and Bounce."

Def Leppard Singer Joe Elliott and guitarist Phil Collen are interviewed by the Scottish Daily Record. The interview, conducted after the London's Carling Academy show to promote the new album, covers many topics including touring, the Hysteria album and more.
""We're trying not to fall away but we have," Joe admitted. "We went through the hard period but came through the other side. "I don't ever want to go onstage where there is nothing new to do. "We are always the butt of jokes, it's something we have to put up with. But it doesn't bother me."

Def Leppard's special Songs From The Sparkle Lounge album launch gig at Islington Academy, London, UK is reviewed in the Guardian newspaper.
"They are downsizing for one night only to promote Songs From the Sparkle Lounge, their first album of new material since 2002. But Def Leppard are far too long in the tooth to start varying their habits now: this is a record that sounds as though it could have been made at any time since 1980. New tracks such as Nine Lives and Hallucinate are formulaic, bombastic rock anthems, all lumpish power-chords and heavy-handed, chugging riffs."

A review of Def Leppard's Songs From The Sparkle Lounge appears in the Times West Virginian by Mark Fisher, May 7.
"There are a few highlights here. The first notable one is the lead single, "Nine Lives." Co-written and performed alongside country music superstar Tim McGraw, the song nearly perfects Def Leppard's even-keeled style while allowing you to see McGraw in a slightly different light. CMT Crossroads, anyone? "Nine Lives" is the song that would likely make or break this album and it definitely makes it."

The official xbox magazine has an exclusive interview with guitarist Vivian Campbell and bassist Rick Savage. Topics discussed include Nine Lives, Guitar Hero, iPods, touring and the changing music industry.
"It's a bit of a double-edged sword with me because it's too easy to make records nowadays. It used to be that you had to be able to sing and you had to be able to do it. Nowadays technology is so amazing, it's so easy to make records... it makes you a little sceptical, I don't always trust what I hear. When I hear something on the radio that sounds great, I'm not convinced, you know?"

Sky News looks at the new marketing strategy Def Leppard is using to release their new single, Nine Lives to video games. Both Joe Elliott and Vivian Campbell are quoted.
"Times have changed since the band's record-selling heydays of the 80s and they don't want to be left behind. "There's no MTV as a video channel any more," says frontman Joe Elliott. "So to get the same effect, you're looking at doing daytime TV."

Def Leppard's Apr. 22 show at the Idaho Center, Nampa, ID is reviewed in the Boise Weekly for May 7.
"Beginning the show with a black and white video of women in bras introducing Def Leppard's new single with guest vocalist Tim McGraw was not the way to go. They played some selections from the High and Dry album but did very little to get the crowd as pumped up."
